One of the effects of economic poverty is that many children drop out of school at an early age due to the lack of family resources. This lack can manifest itself in the family not having enough money to pay the fees, to buy uniforms and supplies, or to buy books in the upper grades. It can also manifest itself in the child having to go to work to provide for the necessities of the entire family.
Corazn believes that we need to combat the root causes
of poverty and that the lack of educational opportunities is one of these
root causes. We provide opportunities for education at all age levels from
preschool daycare to adult classes in the communities. An integral part of
our effort is to provide scholarships
to students in regular schools from
kindergarten through university.
The children of active families, where the family and the individual children must meet additional participation requirements, are invited to apply for these scholarships. In addition to the family meeting a required number of hours, each student must meet an age-appropriate amount of hours, attend tutoring sessions and maintain a C average.
Over 80% of adult males and 60% of adult females in our program have less than a 9th grade education. To ensure proper support and success, the students must attend tutoring sessions. These classes are taught by adult participants and older students and offers another vehicle for community service.
You can be a part of this important effort by sponsoring one or more of these scholarships. You can select a student of your preference or allow our scholarship coordinator to select one for you. Send in your sponsorship donation at the level listed below.
