comunidad (community) Programs

missionary organizations, organizations missionaryAfter over 30 years of teaching and learning, giving and receiving, and dreaming and achieving, Corazon has created many programs that focus on empowerment and self-sufficiency. Listed below are some of the programs that Corazon has to offer.

comunidad Corazon: is not a handout; rather it is a proven method of assistance that allows the participants to help themselves.  We are best known for our Saturday build a house in a day program. But we are much more than that. Check out what happens on 'The Other Six Days.'

                        Mexico Communities            U.S. Communities

There are several requirements participants must meet to receive any benefit

1. Attend a Gardening class. This has several goals, to teach the participants that they can
learn, be successful, be responsible and most importantly put food on the table when there is no money.
They can provide for their family. They become empowered and their self-esteem grows.

2. Attend a Child Abuse Prevention class. After 30 years in the community we saw the need to educate and help our
families. We do not have counselors on staff, but have partnered with several organizations to provide services
    for those who need it

3. Their children must attend school. Education is a priority for Corazon. We believe the only way to break the cycle
    of poverty is through education.

4. Perform community service. Projects range from pouring a concrete floor, working in the community centers
or office, tutoring, watching cars, to building retaining wall. Service is anything that supports a neighbor of builds
    infrastructure in the community.

5. Participants must be active, meaning they must earn 10 hours a month for the previous 6 months
